About...
Sarah Whyberd has a love for sewing, making and gorgeous fabrics.
From her upbringing in rural Cumbria Sarah has always been surrounded by homemade things whether it's freshly baked cakes, handmade cushions or hand-knitted jumpers.
She has a fascination for old world charm with a modern twist and even whilst studying for her BA (Hons) in Fine Art Sculpture at Kingston University in 1999 her work has always started from stories of Cumbrian childhood or the traditional British countryside.
Sarah's current projects are no different; starting with distinctly British ideas such as 1940's style teddy bears and the wonderfully homely tea-cosy, Sarah has brought the objects up to date by using gorgeous modern fabrics but which still have an essence of home.
Sarah currently works in collaboration with designer-maker Gemma Cutts under their tag-line Gem & Bird. To purchase one of these beautiful hand- made items either click on the link to the online shop below or visit Sarah at upcoming craft fayres, details of which will be posted soon.
